CVE-2024-33883

Service interruption via prototype-inherited template options

Published Apr 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Prototype pollution in EJS before 3.1.10 allows attackers to interrupt a Node.js service through inherited template options. The Template constructor accepts an options object without copying only its own properties, so prototype-inherited values can become compilation options. Reachability requires an application to pass attacker-influenced option objects; public records do not identify whether interruption occurs by hang, crash, or resource exhaustion.
