Heap buffer overflow in HDF5 1.14.3 and earlier allows attackers to crash a process or execute code via a crafted HDF5 file. H5D__scatter_mem writes scattered dataset elements beyond a heap destination buffer; published records do not identify the missing size check. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled file data to reach the affected dataset-scattering path, where memory corruption can terminate or compromise the consuming process.
