CVE-2024-33871Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via attacker-named driver library

Published Jul 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Code injection in Artifex Ghostscript before 10.03.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted PostScript document. The OPVP and OPRP device code in contrib/opvp/gdevopvp.c accepts an arbitrary Driver library name and loads that library without restricting it to trusted drivers. Exploitation requires Ghostscript to process the document with an affected device compiled in, after which the library runs with the interpreter's privileges.
