CVE-2024-33870

Arbitrary file access via flawed relative-path validation

Published Jul 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Path traversal in Artifex Ghostscript before 10.03.1 allows attackers to access arbitrary files via a crafted PostScript document. gp_validate_path_len tests relative paths both as supplied and with ./ prepended, allowing ../../foo to pass when ./ is permitted. Exploitation requires the current directory to be permitted and exposes files reachable with the Ghostscript process's permissions.
