CVE-2024-33789Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unfiltered diagnostic ping target

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Command injection in Linksys E5600 Firmware 1.1.0.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through its diagnostic ping test. The runtime.pingTest function concatenates the unfiltered ipurl value into a /bin/ping command string and passes that string to os.execute. Access requires the router management password, after which injected shell metacharacters can start services or otherwise control the appliance.
