Root code execution via crafted Dashlet loading
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 24, 2026
Privilege escalation in Nagios XI 2024R1.0.1 allows attackers controlling nagios or apache to execute code as root. The root-authorized autodiscover_new.php entry point loads PHP from the Dashlet directory, so attacker-supplied Dashlet code executes with root privileges. Exploitation requires control of the nagios or apache account or access to upload a malicious Dashlet; successful execution grants full control of the host.
