Process crash via invalid composition buffer write
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Memory corruption in LunaSVG 2.3.9 allows local users to crash an SVG-rendering process via a crafted SVG file. The composition_solid_source routine performs an invalid memory write while processing the crafted image, and AddressSanitizer records a segmentation violation before the process aborts. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and user interaction; the demonstrated consequence is interruption of the rendering process.
