CVE-2024-33698Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via UMC message overflow

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Siemens User Management Component allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. The um.gpslib.dll library overflows heap memory while processing a crafted network message delivered to um.Ris.exe or um.ssrem.exe. Network access to the UMC services on TCP ports 4002 or 4004 is required, and successful exploitation grants code execution in the affected process.
