CVE-2024-33661Network attack vector

Unauthenticated request redirection via unchecked Helm redirects

Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Open redirect in Portainer before 2.20.0 allows remote attackers to make its Helm repository client follow a crafted redirect. The SearchRepo HTTP client followed redirects without verifying that each destination path still ended in index.yaml, so a repository URL could redirect the server to a different resource. Network access is sufficient to initiate the request according to the published assessment, and the resulting server-side request can reach an unintended destination.
