Resource exhaustion in Technitium DNS Server before 12.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt DNS service with pulsing response bursts. DNS query aggregation retains low-rate requests for seconds, expands them into large responses, and releases the responses together as a concentrated traffic pulse. A reachable recursive resolver and an attacker-chosen victim address enable packet loss or service degradation at the victim; Technitium reports that changed default settings mitigate the impact.
