Stored script execution via unvalidated imported object titles
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in ILIAS 7 before 7.30 and ILIAS 8 before 8.11 allows remote authenticated users with tutor privileges to execute script via XML import. Object import accepts script-bearing content in a Title XML element, and the course interface renders the stored object title without output encoding. The payload runs whenever a course user views the object, allowing requests in the victim's ILIAS session; reaching administrative functions requires an administrator to visit the course.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
