Stored XSS via unescaped imported login names
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in ILIAS 7 before 7.30 and ILIAS 8 before 8.11 allows remote authenticated users to inject script via user-import XML. The user importer accepts a crafted login name from uploaded XML, and the interface later renders that stored value without context-appropriate output encoding. Administrative privileges are required to import the XML, and execution requires another user to view the affected interface; the payload runs in that viewer's browser.
