Stored script execution via unencoded role titles
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in ILIAS 7 before 7.30 and ILIAS 8 before 8.11 allows remote authenticated users with administrative privileges to run script. The role-import path accepts title values from uploaded XML with weaker validation than the administrative UI, then renders stored role titles without context-appropriate output encoding. Administrative access and an XML import are required; the stored payload executes when a user views the affected interface and can act with that user's browser privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
