Root code execution via SUID CNI installer
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Privilege escalation in affected Calico, Enterprise, and Cloud CNI installers allows local users to execute arbitrary binaries with root privileges. The SUID installer honors attacker-controlled environment variables, creates a controllable host path, and executes that path's calico binary with -v. Exploitation requires high-privileged local node access, an absent host directory, and replacement of the legitimate binary; success grants root code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
