Unauthenticated privileged code execution via PAPI buffer overflow
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in the authentication service in HPE ArubaOS and EdgeConnect SD-WAN allows remote attackers to execute code as a privileged user. The Local User Authentication Database service writes data from crafted PAPI packets received on UDP port 8211 beyond a stack buffer. Unauthenticated network reachability to that port is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants control with the service's underlying operating-system privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
