CVE-2024-33428Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via audio-conversion heap overwrite

Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Phiola 2.0-rc22 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted WAV file. During audio conversion, aconv_prepare allocates a four-byte heap region and arrp_setbuf writes eight bytes past its end at src/afilter/conv.c:68 while processing the malformed stream. The target must be induced to convert the attacker-supplied file; the published reproduction demonstrates the out-of-bounds write under AddressSanitizer on Linux.
