CVE-2024-33382Public exploitNetwork attack vector

AMF crash via stale registration response

Published May 8, 2024 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Denial of service in the AMF in Open5GS 2.6.6 and Open5GS 2.7.0 allows remote attackers to crash the service via UE registration. The gmm_state_authentication state machine treats a delayed UDM registration response for a released UE context as an impossible service and aborts. A gNB able to submit timed registrations for the same IMSI can trigger the race, terminating AMF service for connected users.
