Administrator account creation via unfiltered article content
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in JizhiCMS 2.5.4 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser via a crafted article. The article-publication backend stores attacker-controlled body content without server-side filtering, and the preview renders embedded event handlers or scripts in the application origin. Execution requires an administrator to preview the article; the demonstrated same-origin request creates an unauthorized administrator account, while HttpOnly cookies prevent direct cookie theft.
