CVE-2024-33259Public exploit

Engine crash via scanner_seek invalid-pointer read

Published Apr 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Denial of service in JerryScript commit cefd391 allows local users to crash the engine by parsing crafted JavaScript source. In scanner_seek at jerry-core/parser/js/js-scanner-util.c, switch-statement parsing reads an invalid scanner-info pointer at address 0x8, causing SIGSEGV or an assertion abort. Execution requires a user or embedding application to submit the crafted source for parsing; the demonstrated consequence is termination of the affected engine process.
