Process abort via malformed class and destructuring syntax
Published Apr 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reachable assertion in JerryScript commit cefd391 allows local users to abort an embedding process with crafted JavaScript source. During error cleanup, ecma_free_string_list requires every queued string to have a reference count of one and terminates when malformed class and destructuring syntax violates that invariant. Execution of attacker-supplied JavaScript in an assertion-enabled build is required, and the demonstrated consequence is process termination.
