CVE-2024-33228Public exploit

Local kernel code execution via unrestricted driver IOCTLs

Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper privilege control in Insyde Software SEG Windows Driver 100.00.07.02 allows local users to execute code with kernel privileges. The segwindrvx64.sys IOCTL handler lets callers map arbitrary physical memory and read or write I/O ports without checking caller privileges. Low-privileged access to the driver device is sufficient to modify kernel-controlled resources, escalate privileges, and disclose memory.
