CVE-2024-33227

Local privilege escalation via unrestricted driver IOCTLs

Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Improper access control in Nicomsoft WinI2C/DDC 3.7.4.0 allows local users to execute code with kernel privileges via crafted IOCTLs. The ddcdrv.sys IOCTL handler exposes physical-memory mapping and raw I/O-port operations without restricting low-privileged callers. Any local low-privileged process that can open the driver device can use those primitives to escalate privileges, disclose memory, or compromise the host.
