Privilege escalation via unrestricted driver IOCTLs
Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Privilege escalation in Wistron Corporation TBT Force Power Control 1.0.0.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary kernel code. Access64.sys exposes physical-memory mapping and I/O-port read/write IOCTL handlers through DeviceIoControl without restricting caller privileges. Low-privileged Windows access is sufficient to read or alter physical memory and I/O ports, enabling information disclosure or code execution with kernel privileges.
