Local privilege escalation via unrestricted driver IOCTLs
Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Privilege escalation in AsusBSItf.sys in ASUSTeK ASUS BIOS Flash Driver 3.2.12.0 allows local users to execute code via crafted IOCTL requests. The DeviceIoControl handler exposes physical-memory mapping and I/O-port access without restricting caller privileges. A low-privileged Windows account can invoke the driver to execute code with elevated privileges and disclose or modify physical memory.
