Authenticated code execution via post-validation path substitution
Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in Dreamer CMS 4.1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the template directory. ThemesController.add passes an uploaded theme archive to ZipUtils.unZipFiles, which checks entry names before replacing asterisks with slashes. A crafted entry therefore bypasses the traversal check; access to administrative theme upload is required, and the public PoC reaches code execution by overwriting a Linux cron file.
