Administrative takeover via ringtone filename traversal
Published Sep 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Path traversal in Tiptel IP 286 firmware 2.61.13.10 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite phone files. The web interface accepts manipulated ringtone filenames without confining the upload path, allowing uploaded content to replace configuration files. Web-interface credentials are required; overwriting Telnet access-control files grants administrative control of the underlying Linux system.
