Stored XSS via directly served SVG uploads
Published Apr 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024
Stored XSS in DokuWiki 2024-02-06a allows remote attackers to run script in a victim's browser through an uploaded SVG file. The Media Manager stores an SVG containing event-handler script; DokuWiki's fetch.php path blocks execution, but direct access to data/media serves the SVG as active content. Exploitation requires a server misconfiguration exposing data/media and a victim to open the uploaded file, allowing cookie theft or actions in that victim's session.
