Code execution via unsafe CAD file parsing
Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Memory-safety flaws in SOLIDWORKS eDrawings 2023 SP0 through SP5 and 2024 SP0 through SP1 allow attackers to execute code via crafted CAD files. The file readers perform out-of-bounds writes, use uninitialized resources, and access freed memory; ZDI identifies an SLDDRW path that copies attacker-controlled data into a fixed-size heap buffer without validating its length. Exploitation requires the targeted user to open a malicious file or visit a page that opens one, and successful execution runs in the eDrawings process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
