CVE-2024-32917

Local privilege escalation via unchecked DMA bounds

Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in the Google Android Kernel on supported Pixel devices allows local users to escalate privileges without interaction. The pl330_dma_from_peri_start() routine in fp_spi_dma.c fails to bounds-check a peripheral DMA request before writing beyond the intended buffer. A low-privileged local context is required; successful exploitation can compromise confidentiality and integrity within the device, while availability impact is not reported.
