Local privilege escalation via fence use-after-free
Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024
Use-after-free in Android kernel LWIS allows local users to escalate privileges through a flaw in lwis_fence_signal. The function accesses a freed fence object because lwis_debug.c does not apply proper locking while signaling the fence. Exploitation requires code running under the hal_camera_default SELinux label, needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and grants higher local privileges.
