CVE-2024-32857

Privilege escalation via malicious DLL preloading

Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Uncontrolled search path handling in Dell Peripheral Manager before 1.7.6 allows local users to execute code through malicious DLL preloading. Dell has not identified the affected executable or search-path element; DLL preloading or symbolic-link manipulation redirects library loading. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction, after which attacker-controlled code runs with elevated privileges.
