Door-control changes via unauthenticated ICU communications
Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Missing authentication in Johnson Controls iSTAR Pro and ICU all versions allows remote attackers to alter door control and configuration. The controller accepts ICU configuration communications without authenticating the peer, allowing a machine-in-the-middle attacker to interpose and issue changes. Network access to the ICU communication path is required; reported consequences are limited to unauthorized door-control and configuration changes.
