CVE-2024-32614Network attack vector

Process crash via vectorized out-of-bounds read

Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in HDF5 1.14.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash a parsing process via a crafted file. H5VM_memcpyvv reads beyond a heap buffer while copying vectorized data; the public fix does not identify the malformed length field that creates the mismatch. The file must reach an HDF5-consuming process, and the established consequence is a segmentation-fault service interrupt; code execution is not confirmed.
