Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Apr 18, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in App Cheap App Builder 3.8.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script through the ADS shortcode. The shortcode renders an attacker-controlled attribute without escaping it, causing injected markup to persist and execute when the content is viewed. Contributor-level access and interaction by a viewer are required; the script runs in that viewer's browser and can alter content or access session-visible data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
