CVE-2024-32498Network attack vector

Authenticated host-file disclosure via QCOW2 external data

Published Jul 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Arbitrary file access in Cinder through 24.0.0, Glance before 28.0.2, and Nova before 29.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to read server files. QCOW2 processing accepts an attacker-chosen external data-file path and returns the referenced host file's contents instead of rejecting the image. Every Cinder and Nova deployment is exposed to an authenticated image user; Glance is exposed only when image conversion is enabled.
