CVE-2024-32476Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application-controller crash via unbounded jq evaluation

Published Apr 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Argo CD allows remote authenticated users to crash its application controller through crafted jqPathExpressions. The ignoreDifferences normalizer passes each jqPathExpressions filter to jq without an execution deadline, so a nonterminating filter grows memory until the controller is killed. Low-privileged application-write access is required; exploitation interrupts reconciliation and syncing without reported data disclosure or modification.
