Out-of-bounds read via unchecked planar plane offsets
Published Apr 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in FreeRDP 2.x clients before 2.11.6 and 3.0.0 through 3.4.0 allows remote attackers to access memory via planar data. In planar_decompress, unchecked plane offsets can underflow the remaining-length calculation passed to planar_skip_plane_rle, which then reads past the source buffer. Reachability requires an affected client to process planar RLE bitmap data from an attacker-controlled RDP server; the documented impact is an unintended client-memory read.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
