Privilege escalation in HSC Labs MailInspector 5.2.17-3 through 5.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to gain administrative access. The account-update request trusts a user-controlled type parameter, allowing its value to change from 1 for a regular user to 0 for an administrator. A regular account and access to submit the crafted request are required; success grants the affected account administrative functions and data access.
