CVE-2024-32359Public exploit

Cluster takeover via overprivileged service account

Published May 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Improper authorization in Carina 0.13.0 and earlier allows local users to execute code and obtain secrets across a Kubernetes cluster. Carina's cluster-wide RBAC role permits its service account to list secrets and create privileged pods, allowing the mounted token to authorize both operations. Exploitation requires local access to a Carina pod or node to obtain that token; the exposed permissions enable cluster takeover.
