CVE-2024-32152Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Fixed-path file creation via TeX hex escapes

Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Blocklist bypass in Anki 24.04 allows remote attackers to create a file at a fixed path through a malicious shared flashcard. The LaTeX filter checks literal disallowed commands but passes TeX hex escapes, which reconstruct blocked openout and write commands during rendering. A user must import and render the card with a supported LaTeX distribution installed; the write is limited to Anki's temporary directory.
