Code execution via unchecked IGS parser read
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Siemens Simcenter Femap before V2406 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted IGS file. The IGES_2022_2 executable fails to validate user-supplied IGS data before reading outside an allocated structure. The same parser defect affects PS/IGES Parasolid Translator Component before V27.1.215, and exploitation requires opening an untrusted file in a consuming application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <v27.1.215

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
