Code execution via IGS parser type confusion
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Type confusion in Siemens Simcenter Femap before 2406 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted IGS file opened by a user. The PS/IGES Parasolid Translator Component before 27.1.215 has the same flaw; in Femap, IGES_2022_2 fails to validate user-supplied data before using it as an incompatible type. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious file or visit a page that supplies it, and resulting code runs with the current process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
