CVE-2024-32035Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded decoder allocations

Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Six Labors ImageSharp before 2.1.8 and 3.0.0 through 3.1.3 allows remote attackers to deplete process memory. Image decoders pass dimensions and chunk-derived lengths from crafted files into the shared MemoryAllocator, which previously allocated buffers and memory groups without enforcing total-size limits. Reachability requires a consuming application to decode attacker-controlled image content; successful exploitation exhausts memory and interrupts that application's processing.
