Authenticated code execution via overprivileged PDF template evaluation
Published Apr 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Missing authorization in XWiki Platform PDF templates allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code on the server. PdfExportImpl.getPDFTemplateProperty evaluates the selected PDFClass style value as Velocity under the exporter's privileges instead of the template author's rights. A low-privileged account can create or edit XWiki.PDFClass and trigger a PDF export, gaining programming rights across the installation.
