CVE-2024-31978Network attack vector

Authenticated file download and deletion via path traversal

Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Path traversal in Siemens SINEC NMS before V2.0 SP2 allows remote authenticated users to download files through the export API. The monitoring-data export endpoint accepts a crafted path without confining file resolution to the intended export directory. A valid account is required, and some requests also delete the downloaded file, causing disclosure and potentially service-impacting data loss.
