CVE-2024-31977Public exploit

Authenticated command execution via diagnostic shell metacharacters

Published Jul 24, 2024 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

OS command injection in Adtran 834-5 firmware before 12.6.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through diagnostics. The router administration Ping and Traceroute utilities pass parameter content containing shell metacharacters to command execution without neutralizing those characters. Access to the administration interface is required; successful injection grants command execution that can disclose or alter data or interrupt service.
