CVE-2024-31970Network attack vector

Root command execution via default SSH credentials

Published Jul 24, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Adtran 834-5 Firmware 11.1.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands through default SSH credentials. During initial setup, the SSH interface reportedly accepts admin/admin for an unrestricted root account before the GUI changes its password. Adtran disputes applicability, stating that official SmartOS builds never expose SSH over WAN and that the tested build was never released.
