Local privilege escalation in IBM Storage Scale GUI 5.1.9.0 through 5.1.9.6 and 5.2.0.0 through 5.2.1.1 allows local users to gain root access. IBM has not disclosed the vulnerable function or command path, beyond mapping the issue to execution with unnecessary privileges. Exploitation requires command-line access as the scalemgmt account and grants root control of the Linux host operating system.
