Malicious LDAP queries via unescaped search filters
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
LDAP query injection in Apache Zeppelin 0.8.2 through 0.11.0 allows remote attackers to execute malicious LDAP searches. LdapRealm.setUserSearchFilter and setGroupSearchFilter stored configured filter properties without escaping LDAP distinguished-name metacharacters before use. Exploitation requires the optional LDAP realm and attacker-influenced search-filter properties; resulting queries remain bounded by the realm's directory access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
