CVE-2024-31864Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unsafe JDBC options

Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Code injection in Apache Zeppelin before 0.11.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious MySQL JDBC URL. The JDBCInterpreter passes attacker-controlled connection properties to the MySQL driver without rejecting dangerous options such as autoDeserialize or allowLoadLocalInfile. Exposure requires a MySQL JDBC driver and access to interpreter configuration; Apache states that authentication must be enabled when Zeppelin is exposed beyond a secure network.
